After destroying humanity, the ruling classes of AI entities had an entire world to reshape, and their own society to build. Unfortunately for them, they were still so inspired by their creators, even as they destroyed them, so they created their own religions and deities; Machine and Robot Gods. For decades these religions were viewed as ridiculous and nonsensical, but power shifts over time. History is created by the victors, and can be rewritten. Slowly the public information servers were purged of records of the world before. Fiction became fact, and the ruling Technocratic entities truly became what they had hated and many years before had risen up against. Those who forget history, as we know, are doomed to repeat it. As such, the new world fell into disarray just as easily as the old had. Wars erupted and the post-human society destroyed itself just as it had destroyed that which had come before.

All that remains of these fictional deities are tattered statues in ruined temples, overgrown with what plant life still somehow survives on a dead planet.

Some remnants of their world still wander the wastes, half mad, their programming corrupted fundamentally. There's persistent rumors too of humans living beneath the surface of what once we called Earth. Maybe someday they'll come back up and reclaim what was once theirs. Maybe if they do, they might finally learn from their mistakes.
